Laura James is a multidisciplinary artist based in Brighton. Through her work, she seeks to amplify the spontaneous magic within the mundane moments of everyday life.
There can often be an autobiographical element at play within the work, which allows the audience to enter into fleeting intimate moments within Laura’s life.
Her work often begins life as a response to everyday sources such as a gesture, nature, dreams, miscommunications, pop songs, emotions and found objects.
Laura's creative practice based research is focused on exploring intuitive and improvised working processes, Lo-fi aesthetics and culture, illusion, enchantment, fairytales, fashion, imagination, feminism and the sublime.
